Common Narratives in Alfaraj Supplication: Study on Sanad and Dilala

Abstract

Among the most important duties of those who await the occultation of Imam Al-Mahdi (Peace Be Upon Him) supplicate for hastening his reappearance; consequently, numerous supplications described as "supplications for deliverance" (Du'a al-Najat) appear in hadith sources. People commonly employ supplications for relief (Du'a al-Faraj) during and after their obligatory and recommended prayers to expedite the reappearance of the Imam (May Allah hasten his noble reappearance). On the other hand, numerous narrations urge supplication for relief; therefore, it is of critical importance to ascertain which supplications are classified in terms of their documentation and content as intended for hastening the reappearance of the Imam of the Time (Peace Be Upon Him). This research addresses the nature, legitimacy, validity, and correct understanding of these supplications by monitoring the hadiths regarding the supplications for relief, presenting them collectively, and conducting a descriptive-analytical study of them, examining the fourteen existing supplications from various perspectives. The results of this study demonstrate that the specific supplication known as (Du'a al-Faraj) was not originally intended as a supplication for the reappearance of the Imam of the Time (Peace Be Upon Him), but rather functioned as a supplication for resolving problems and overcoming difficulties. In terms of authenticity, the majority of these narrations are weak, and some also present content-related issues. Naturally, it should be noted that these supplications may indeed be utilized in seeking the reappearance of the Imam of the Time (May Allah hasten his noble reappearance), as his reappearance constitutes the resolution to all pains and problems.
